More About This Title So Great a Salvation

English

Though the global center of Christianity has been shifting south and east for decades, very few biblical and theological resources have dealt with the seismic changes afoot. The Majority World Theology series seeks to remedy that lack by gathering well-regarded Christian thinkers from around the world to discuss the significance of Christian teaching in their respective contexts. This textbook series introduces students and scholars to these enlightening developments from the Majority World.

In So Great a Salvation nine scholars from the global church reflect deeply on soteriology in the Majority World. For many Christians outside Europe and North America, the doctrine of salvation is not a mere theological construct but, rather, a matter of life and death. Taking African, Asian, Latin American, and First Nations cultural contexts into account, this book allows readers to see God's creative deliverance in a fresh light.

Gerald Bray
— Beeson Divinity School
“Christianity is rapidly expanding in the Majority World, which is playing more and more a part in the faith’s ongoing theological development. . . . We are privileged to have this collection of essays as a guide to what we may expect to see in the years to come.”

Joel Carpenter
— Nagel Institute for the Study of World Christianity
“Now that most of the world’s Christians live outside of the faith’s former strongholds in Europe and European settlements, Christian thinking has much new work to do. . . . Kudos to the authors and editors for presenting this work.”

Christopher J. H. Wright
— Langham Partnership
“Provides a kind of stereophonic listening to one another across the cultures that shape us but should not define us as Christians. The whole Majority World Theology series promises to be a refreshingly reciprocal contribution to global theology.”
