Over the past decade, several studies have focused on the degradation of the urban environment, with a focus on sustainable development. How can the goal of creating a sustainable urban future be achieved through architecture and urban planning? That is the critical question at the heart of this book. A conceptual framework is being developed, based on the environmental planning literature and parameters that contribute more than others to sustainability (eg urban density, land use, green spaces, bioclimatic architecture, transport) .
