More About This Title Successfull Drug and Alcohol Prevention Programs(Issue 67: New Directions for Student Services-SS)

English

Alcohol and other drug abuse is antithetical to academic excellence and the values associated with higher education. The recent resurgence of illicit drug use and alcohol abuse, coupled with the interactions of these behaviors with other critical social issues such as AIDS, sexual assault, and vandalism, has accelerated the need to reassess our approach to prevention. Institutional liability and new federal legislation provide additional motivation to this already pressing need. This volume details the current problems of alcohol abuse and other drug use in higher education and suggests approaches for creating a campus climate that is more conducive to successful social and academic development. This is the 67th issue of the quarterly journal New Directions for Student Services.
