More About This Title Sotto una nuvola a forma di banana

English

With a preface by the sailors Matteo Miceli and Michele Zambelli, "Under a banana-shaped cloud: irony, techniques and stories of the sea" is a must-read for anyone who is passionate about sailing or the sea. The rich text is soaked in “philo- sophy of the seaman”. While precise in its technical clarifica ons, the book is profoundly spiritual at the same me. The sea is understood not only as the realm of dreams, but also as a place to live, respect, love and protect. Drawing on his experience, Lamorgese takes the reader by hand in search of the best way to sail, but also above all to understand oneself. He provides concrete experiences for the new sailor, spanning naviga on to repairs and boat maintenance and on to the search for the spirit of the sea. All of this is done with a vein of irony, but never in a scholas c way, and the author chooses a narra ve style that includes amusing anecdotes.

Maurizio Lamorgese (born in 1953) started sailing at 20 and has not stopped since. He has tried almost all the Olympic disciplines but he prefers the “conten- der” class, which he has dedicated him- self to for more than 15 years. He has par cipated in two Atlan c crossings as a co-skipper and he has worked as captain of charter boats for several summers. In July 2013, he became the owner of a C&C37;, which he wants to sail to its origi- nal shipyard in Canada to represent Italy in an interna onal show. He has lived happily on a boat for more than 10 years.
