Author Chuck Farritor, a surviving member of Tom Brokaw’s greatest generation has released a book that will touch readers’ hearts. His true stories often portray extremely sad times, but that is offset by times of great hope and joy. The stories “In The Gentle Blue Light of the Dog Star” are personal narratives of the author’s experiences. He served on hospital ships, troop ships, and sea tugs on most of the seven seas during World War II and the Korean War. The book also tells of happenings in his family during twelve or more decades of his family’s settling in the West. After major injury in the Korean War, he had to give up his life at sea. He became a successful builder and a writer. He lives with his wife Muriel in Claremont California.
