Classic style never goes out of fashion. Since Coco Chanel invented it in 1926, the little black dress has become every woman's wardrobe staple. It can be a sign of belonging or a sign of individuality, a way to hide or a way to stand out. Fifteen women of varied backgrounds, including Stella Duffy, Kate Mosse, Candia McWilliam, Muriel Gray, Morag Joss, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Jean Marsh and Michelle Berry, offer a colorful range of views on the little black dress, all tailored by Susie Maguire into a simply stunning and elegant collection.


Susie Maguire, born in Edinburgh, has had professional incarnations including vintage-clothes scout, ceramicist, artist's model, a capella singer, actor, TV presenter, voiceover artist and comedy performer. She is the author of two short story collections, The Short Hello and Furthermore, both published by Polygon, and has edited several anthologies for Polygon: Scottish Love Stories, Hoots: Scottish Comic Writing with David Jackson-Young, and Something Wicked: Scottish Crime Fiction with Amanda Hargreaves. Susie has also written columns, articles and book reviews for the major Scottish newspapers. At present she is working on a novel.
