This series, featuring the popular Espresso characters, aims to support children who are learning to read through phonics, giving them the opportunity to read simple words in print. This book of no more than 180 words, focuses on two letter graphemes and split long vowels.Controlled vocabulary is expanded through six levels, following the popular "Letters and Sounds" phonics scheme from Phase 2 to Phase 4, building up from simple CVC words (level 1) to double letter sounds (level 2), two letter graphemes (level 3), adjacent consonants (level 4), two letter graphemes and split long vowels (level 5), and alternative spellings (level 6).
