Humphrey Lyttelton was born in 1921. During World War II he served as an officer in the Grenadier Guards, and he then studied for two years at Camberwell Arts School. In a tremendously varied career, he worked as a cartoonist for the Daily Mail, as a journalist for Punch and The Field, wrote seven books, became an acclaimed jazz trumpeter and formed a record company. He was also well-known as chair of the long-running BBC radio show, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, a role he performed for over 30 years. He died in 2008.
