Anthony Trollope's series of witty and gently satirical stories of provincial life, The Chronicles of Barsetshire, are set in the fictional town of Barchester and the surrounding county of Barsetshire. The Small House at Allington and The Last Chronicle of Barset complete the series of six books and dramatizations, which began with The Warden, Barchester Towers, Dr Thorne, and Framley Parsonage.

Anthony Trollope (1815 – 1882) was one of the most successful, prolific, and respected English novelists of the Victorian era. Some of his best-loved works, collectively known as The Chronicles of Barsetshire, revolve around the imaginary county of Barsetshire. He also wrote perceptive novels on political, social, and gender issues, and on other topical matters.
