Charles R. Berger is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication, University of California, Davis. Past President and Fellow of the International Communication Association and a Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association, he has co-authored and edited numerous publications including Handbook of Communication Science, Second Edition (with M. E. Roloff and D. Roskos-Ewoldsen, 2010).

Michael E. Roloff is Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University. His publications include Interpersonal Process: New Directions in Communication Research (1987) and Communication Processes Leading to Integrative Agreements (1988). In 2009 he was named a fellow of the International Communication Association and Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association.
