ROBERT D. HERMAN is professor of organizational behavior and community psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he teaches in the graduate program in nonprofit management. He is coauthor (with R. Heimovics) of Executive Leadership in Nonprofit Organizations (Jossey-Bass, 1991) and coeditor (with J. Van Til) of Nonprofit Boards of Directors (1989), as well as the author of many articles on nonprofit leadership and governance.
