Mr. Flanzraich was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York City. His parents were European immigrants. On a scholarship, he graduated from Harvard College, magna cum laude and phi beta kappa, and from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude. He has been in the pharmaceutical industry for over thirty years and is currently the chairman and CEO of a biotech company. He is a member of the boards of directors of two public companies. He and his wife, Dr. Kira Flanzraich, live in Coral Gables, Florida. They have two sons, Derek and Jordan, who live in New York City. Mr. Flanzraich wrote fairy tales for his sons when they were little. His sons later introduced him to the Harry Potter books, which eventually led to his writing this book.
