English

Mikel Goikoetxea, best known as Goiko, some time ago one of the best murder investigators of the Basque country, survives working as a detective since he had to ask the leave in the Ertzaintza, the Autonomous Basque Police, when his life, his reputation and his marriage collapsed due to a false accusation of belonging to a pederast net. Turned into a social leper, only a few ex-partners helped him by sending some clients, like, for example, a renowned notary of Bilbao who one day went to Goiko’s office to ask him to investigate the death of his wife, because he suspects that she has been murdered. He finds out indeed that behind the tragic death of the woman there is a serious matter which will come to surface throughout the intriguing pages of the novel.

José Javier Abasolo is Bachelor of Laws and at present he works at the Basque Government in the Justice, Employment and Social Security department. He won with his first novel, LEJOS DE AQUEL INSTANTE, the 1996 Prensa Canaria Award and the 2005 García Pavón Award with ANTES QUE TODO SE DERRUMBE. His first and second novels (LEJOS DE AQUEL INSTANTE and NADIE ES INOCENTE) have sold french rights to Editions de L'Atalante, and Italian rights. His third novel, UNA INVESTIGACIÓN FICTICIA was published by Editorial Tempore and he has also published BILBAO-HOLLYWOOD (Hiria, 2004) and EL COLOR DE LOS MUERTOS (Hiria, 2005). He is probably one of Spain's best detective storytellers. He is a regular guest to lecture at the Semana Negra de Gijón (Symposium of Detective Fiction). He collaborates with Pérgola, cultural supplement of the newspaper Bilbao and with the digital magazine about detective fiction La Gansterera and, as commentator, in a literary radio programme.
