In this collection, the poet is concerned with how mythology - specifically the story of Demeter and Persephone - explains the seasons. Time moves through the poems and the collection explores the way scientists view time, and how that view changes.


Mary O’Malley was born in Connemara in Ireland and educated at University College Galway. She lived in Lisbon for eight years and taught at the Universidade Nova. She served on the council of Poetry Ireland and was on the Committee of the Cuirt International Poetry Festival for eight years, author of its educational programme. She has published seven books of poetry and her work has been translated into several languages. She writes for RTE Radio and broadcasts her work regularly. She was joint winner of the Eigse Michael Hartnett Award 2018.
