More About This Title 100 Years of Scouting

English

The 150th anniversary of the birth of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the world's largest voluntary uniformed youth movement, and the centenary of the Scout Movement itself fell occurred 2007. This anthology collects 200 photographs that depict the founder, the Scouts themselves—showing them engaged in Scouting activities within their numerous branches—and key places with a Scouting connection. Such images help to bring alive the many camps, excursions, and duties enjoyed and performed by millions of youngsters and adults throughout the decades. These fascinating photographs, many of which have not been published before, are accompanied by informative captions. They will evoke nostalgic memories in the many past and present members of the Scout Movement, and will also appeal to all those with an interest in traditions, British institutions, and social history.
