Jill Fryman (Friday to her friends) is a line supervisor at a truck manufacturing plant in a small southern Indiana town. Life on the assembly line is almost as predictable as her love life. When it comes to matters of the heart, Friday always seems to be making the wrong choices. Things go from bad to worse when El, a sultry labor organizer from the UAW, sweeps into town to unionize the plant right after it’s been bought out by a Japanese firm. Sparks fly on and off the line as Jill and El fight their growing attraction for each other against a backdrop of monster trucks, catfish dinners, Pork Day USA, and a bar called Hoosier Daddy.

Ann McMan was born in the mountains of Pennsylvania, but spent much of her childhood below sea level in northern Delaware. She now lives halfway between the mountains and the sea in central North Carolina, but dreams of one day relocating to Vermont—where the colder climate might help her keep better. Salem West is a corn fed overachiever from the lower Midwest, who studied hard, practiced religiously, spiked her qualifying exams, and earned a graduate degree in Public Policy from Vanderbilt. She spent more than twenty-five years managing environmental, nuclear, process safety, and security groups and contracts for a bevy of Beltway Bandits in Washington, D.C. In 2011, sanity prevailed and she retired from these pursuits to found her breakout blog, The Rainbow Reader. The blog combines homespun essays with queer-centric perspectives in book reviews that cover a wide swath of literature.
