If the Make A Wish Foundation granted wishes to adults, mine would be to allow me to see my books do well and make my family proud.
Have you ever wondered what you would do with your life if you knew when it was about to end? It is a unique place to be in and it really isn't that bad.
It is my time to face death and allow my thoughts and emotions to pour out that I may help the next person who is about to turn the last page.
Life is ever-changing. It is what we make of it. Though I have no control of when my life will end, I can paint my words out on a canvas. I can show my love for humanity with each stroke. Life is temporary. Memories, like words, live on.
I have terminal cancer. I am fueled with the desire to leave a part of myself behind.
My dream has always to be published. In the past, I was too busy working and taking care of my family to work on my life’s dream. I always thought, one day when I retire, I will spend my days writing.
Well, in a way my dream has come true. Ironically “My life’s dream” takes on a different meaning now that my life is coming to an end. It is bittersweet.
It has been wonderful therapy for me to get back into my writing. My poetry is a fantastic way to work out my cancer emotions while writing children’s books bring back good memories of my childhood and that on my sons. I write every issue for the grandchildren I may never hold. Parts of these books are real experiences either I had when I was a child, or their fathers had as children. I hope you, as the reader, may find a memory and a chuckle as you take time to relax and read for a few minutes.
With my death reflecting at me in the mirror, my mortality, heaven and the afterlife are constantly on my mind. Spiritually,I am on a quest for God. Many of my poetic writings come to me in answer to prayers.
