Looking forward to Taipei International Book Fair, Paris CookBook Fair, Bologna and London Book Fair

Former London Book Fair Director and former Director of Books and Publishing Worldwide at Reed Exhibitions launched a new advisory and project management business for the global books and publishing sector in December 2012. Publishing Connections aims to serve organisations across the global books and publishing sector with advisory and project management services, including: • Publishers, literary agencies, suppliers, and technology companies. • Government ministries, cultural relations organisations and arts management bodies. • Conference organisers, literary festivals and book fairs. Alistair Burtenshaw is currently Chair of Booktrust, the UK’s largest independent literacy charity, which administers national and targeted book-gifting programmes that distribute over 5 million books a year to children across the UK, advises on government policy and administers a host of prestigious literary prizes. Alistair is President of Honour of the 2013 Paris Cookbook Fair, which includes the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, and an Industry Advisory Board Member of the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies at Oxford Brookes University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A regular international media commentator, Alistair has spoken around the world on issues related to the global books and publishing sector, with a special interest in emerging markets and digital disruption. Alistair was Director of The London Book Fair, the world’s leading spring publishing event, for over eleven years to September 2012 as well as Director of Books and Publishing (worldwide) at Reed Exhibitions from April 2011 until September 2012, during which time he had responsibility for the strategy and business development focus of Reed Exhibitions portfolio of leading book fairs in Europe, North and Latin America, and Asia – which included The London Book Fair. Alistair was also formerly a Trustee of the Book Trade Benevolent Society and a Trustee of English PEN, the founding centre of the global writers’ organisation. He is also a former Management Committee Member of the Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award and a former Chair of the KPMG Publisher of the Year Award. Alistair is an alumnus of Yale University’s Leadership Strategies for Book Publishing course and speaks English, Spanish and Italian.
