It seems that something has doomed to be happening, gradually, the fixed members from freshmen also decrease into ten. After a large festival, Sugawara, who claims that he is the 499th generation of Azure Dragons’s chairperson, tells them the truth. All the members are in fact “warriors”, and the mission of Azure Dragons is to fight against warriors from three other universities. The battle is called “Horumo”. It is an ancient game in which players control “oni” and pit them against the oni of rival teams.
Kamogawa Horumo is the first novel from Memanabu Maki, who is known as “Genius Author” in Japan. After the book had been published, it attracted people’s eyes and was nominated by “Bookstore Award” from Japan (known as Oscar Award in Japanese publication market). The stage of the novel was set at Kyoto, which is the hometown of onmyouji. Under the intense atmosphere, the battle “Horumo” is filled with uncommon fantastic aura. The description of vivid characters and university life make readers laugh. It is indeed the most attractive novel of the year.

Born in Osaka, 1976, Memanabu Maki graduated from Kyoto University, Department of Law. Now he is living in Tokyo. His book “Kamogawa Horumo” wins the 4th “Boiled Eggs” New Author Award. After then, the book was nominated by “Bookstore Award” in 2007 which voted by bookstore clerks from bookstores all over the country.
