Dr. McIntyre acknowledged his Call to the Gospel ministry in 1965 on the Island of Bermuda while serving in the Navy. He was the former pastor of First Baptist Georgetown for 10 years and the First African Baptist Church where he labored for 33 and a half years. He also served as Interim pastor at First Baptist, Danville, Kentucky for approximately one year.

Dr. McIntyre had an insatiable appetite for the Word. He would spend hours on end daily with the Lord meditating, studying, writing, worshiping and praying. His behavior and demeanor can only be depicted by the song, "All Day Long, I've Been With Jesus."

Rev. Dr. Leon Haley McIntyre was born on October 6, 1937 to the late Don Carlos, Sr. and Minnie L. (Greene) McIntyre in Georgetown, KY. He was married to Mary A. (Baker) and was the father of one son Leon II.

Educational achievements: Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Black History; Kentucky State College, Frankfort, Kentucky

Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Care and Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, Kentucky He was also conferred a Doctorate of Divinity from Simmons Bible College, Louisville, Kentucky.
