More About This Title Awakening Community Intelligence

Over the last decades many thousands of people around the world have come to recognize in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) a vehicle for approaching land, food, labor, environment and community in a healthier way. Now – in an era with increasing shadows of environmental catastrophe – it’s time to expand exponentially the CSA vision and reality. This book lays out the vision and sounds a call to action. Author Steven McFadden is a journalist who has been writing about CSA since the late 1980s. This new book is a visionary call to action.

Independent journalist Steven McFadden has been writing about CSA farms since their inception in America in 1986. With Trauger Groh he is co-author of the first two books on CSA: Farms of Tomorrow: Community Supported Farms, Farm Supported Communities (1990) and Farms of Tomorrow Revisited (1998). He’s also the author of The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21st Century.
Steven is a member of the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, and has participated in three different CSAs over the years. He serves on the Board of Directors for Open Harvest Natural Food Co-op Market in Nebraska’s capital city of Lincoln. The co-op is in active association with over 100 local Nebraska farms.
Steven’s other non-fiction books include: Profiles in Wisdom; Teach Us To Number Our Days; Legend of the Rainbow Warriors; A Primer for Pilgrims; and Classical Considerations. He’s also author of a contemporary, epic, nonfiction saga of North America that is freely available online: Odyssey of the 8th Fire. With his wife and partner Elizabeth Wolf, he’s a founder of Soul*Sparks Books.
