More About This Title SAGEBRUSH MEETS THE SHUNS

English

There was a deep, low grumbling, groaning noise coming from deep within the forest where no grumbling, groaning noise should be heard. Sagebrush, the tailless puppy, felt the vibration of the earth before she heard the noise as the sun began to rise over the Rocky Mountains and the cattle ranch she called home. Sagebrush journeys into the deepest recesses of the forest, discovering the tiny unknown creatures called Shuns, who are now homeless due to the giant tree cutting machines that the humans have sent to clear the forest of the trees that the Shuns once made their homes in. Sagebrush befriends the Shuns and vows to save them in this tale you won't soon forget. Through kindness and love, Sagebrush and the young ranch woman work together to offer the homeless Shuns a chance to live out their dreams.

A charming addition to the charismatic pup’s ranch adventures. KIRKUS REVIEWS Additional themes, such as having determination and being kind, are just as intrinsic to the book’s plot. Her whole short life, Sagebrush has been laughed at for not having a tail. Obviously, most children who have been teased
for something are sure to identify with that. This makes one of the book’s messages—that you can still make a
difference no matter what—really resonate. CLARION FOREWORD REVIEWS
This book sets the stage for more stories of the smart and caring K-9 Sagebrush. The
inspiration for the character came from a real dog whose photograph is shown at the
end of the book. Combining the storybook Sagebrush with the real dog will imprint a
pathway in children’s minds taking them from the real world into the imagination of an
enjoyable fairy tale – even if the protagonist doesn’t have a tail of her own to wag. A
beautifully illustrated enjoyable book, I hope to see more adventures of Sagebrush to
come in future Corky Tails. PACIFIC BOOK REVIEW
