This book is an in-depth look into the history of the famous Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro. Complete with documentary samples, historical accounts, and a songbook, the text provides a greater knowledge of the musical group that gave life to the creation of the Cuban son. 


Dr. C. Ricardo R. Oropesa Fernández holds his doctorate degree in pedagogical sciences and is a composer, producer, cultural promoter, and writer. He is a member of the Cuban Writers and Artists Union. From 2001 to 2003 he worked with Real Rhythm Records and Sociedad Helvética. Artistically, he has represented the Orchestra América from 2001 to 2005, Septeto Típico de Sones from 2004 to 2007, and the Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro since 2003. He is the editor and founded of the column “El Son de altura” in Sonfonia where he has published over 40 articles.
