David Melling has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Book Award. Before becoming an internationally-acclaimed and bestselling author-illustrator, David worked as a photographer and animation artist for films, including the much-loved Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs. The Tale of Jack Frost was animated and shown on BBC1 on Christmas Day with a voiceover by Hugh Laurie. The animation was shortlisted for the Pulcinella Award in the "Best TV Movie" category.
