This book, like a magic carpet, takes readers to Delos. First, it tells them about the history and mythology and about how light and art helped make miracles here. Next it takes them into the ancient people’s homes and shops to see Delos out of the eyes of those who lived there and to make the city real. The archaeological section includes drawings of the ruins with particular points of interest identified and captioned. Finally, the book presents 12 power places on Delos where people experienced miracles for thousands of years, with a map for pilgrimage to those places and suggestions for brief, longer, and multiple day visits to the island. Iven Lourie is the editor of this book and also an enthusiast of Delos, the archaeological site. He first visited there in 1972, and he writes in his Foreword about the very strong energies he has felt on every visit to Delos and its influence on his own life. Mr. Lourie is Editor at Gateways Books and Tapes, also a published poet and author of the collection Miro's Dream (Gateways), a section of Yuba Flows (Hip Pocket Press), and Editor of The Cafe Writers Anthology 2010 (Artemis Books). Michael Samuels M.D. has used creativity, art, and guided imagery with patients with life threatening illness and life crises for over thirty years in private practice and in consultation. He has taught and led spiritual tours on healing to Delos for many years and taken people he works with to Delos to heal and experience miracles. He is the author of twenty one books including the best selling Well Body Book, Well Baby Book, Well Pregnancy Book, and the guided imagery classic Seeing With the Mind’s Eye, each sold over 400,000 copies. He has written several books on art and healing and miracles including Creative Healing, Spirit Body Healing, The Path of the Feather, Shaman Wisdom-Shaman Healing. He splits his time between his house in Tinos, Greece, within sight of Delos, and his home in Bolinas, California. George Voulgaris is Greek and was born and lives in Mykonos, the island next to Delos. His family has lived on Mykonos for generations. As a licensed archaeological site guide, George leads tours to Delos every day and has taken thousands of people through this site and made it come alive for them. He loves Delos and has studied the island for 40 years and has worked with French and Greek archaeologists studying the history and meaning of this site.
