Ong Teong Wan's 50-year professional career has progressed from educational institution, production floor, corporate office, professional institution to boardroom.

After studying Economics and Geography at the University of Singapore, he obtained a postgraduate Diploma in Education in Singapore and a specialist qualification in the Training of Teachers from the University of Oxford, UK. He is also a graduate of the IBEAR MBA program of the University of Southern California, USA.

Much of his professional life has been spent in customizing corporate training. He has trained managers in multinational companies, SMEs, local and international profit and non-profit organizations, government bodies and statutory boards to apply integrated management systems to the workplace.

In a long and varied career, he has served more than 10 years as senior master and teacher educator in the Singapore Ministry of Education and SEAMEO (Innotech), as Area Training Manager (Production) of National Semi-Conductor (SEA) and was Group Director (Human Resources) of the Union Carbide Group of Companies in Singapore from 1972 to 1984. He has been Consulting Partner at the Singapore Institute of Management since 1984 and sits as an Independent Director on listed companies in Singapore. He was a member of the Economic Development Board and National Productivity Board in Singapore and was accorded a Friend of Labor Award by the National Trades Union Congress for his contributions to the labor movement.

He has been designated Fellow of the Singapore Human Resource Institute for eminence in his field and is a Past President of the Singapore Training and Development Association.
