Going to my first Book Fair in 2 weeks!
I started teaching almost 20 years ago, but my real journey occurred when I converted my parents garage into a classroom when I was 8 years old. I would invite the neighborhood children to come each weekend and we would play "school." I was always the teacher even though the other kids wanted to-- Each weekend I would tell the kids, "You can be the teacher next weekend", but the following weekend I would resume my position in the front of the classroom and conduct my fun lesson for the day! They fell for it every time and the rest is history! LOL! I own a successful childcare center and summer camp. Also, I am the creator of The Adventures of Scuba Jack which is an on-line resource for both parents and teachers that educates children 2-10 years of age. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University in Boston, MA. and I have a Master's Degree in School Administration from Endicott College in Beverly, MA.
My hope and dream is to make every child within the world a better reader. It is also my hope and dream to help every child in the world to be better learners by building a strong academic foundation that will last a life time! (The stakes are getting much higher with the Common Core Standards being implemented in each state in the US-- it is my fear that if a child falls behind-- they may never catch up! There are ways to make education fun, but it must start early and it must start in Pre-School!)
