The first translation institution established in the country, China Translation and Publishing Corporation (CTPC) is proud of its over 30 years’ experience in translation and interpretation service provision, its well-deserved reputation for quality and excellence, and its seasoned in-house professionals and freelancers in various disciplinary specialties. With its own growth witnessing the opening-up of the country and the globalization process of the world, the company is now one of the major players in China’s language industry.
When it was founded in the early 1970s, the company’s mandate was to translate the backlog UN documents into Chinese as China restored its legal status in the United Nations. Later, it extended translation and interpretation service to various international organizations, Chinese government organs, foreign embassies and representative offices in China, and then, businesses and individuals, which take an ever-increasing share of the company’s business portfolio since China’s opening-up and all the more so since the country’s entry into WTO. In recent years, the growing demand of website and product localization has brought new market opportunities to CTPC, and the company has thus taken the lead to develop and optimize the project management process for such business, gained some experience in using the latest CAT technologies and software, and recruited a batch of technical staff to meet the new challenge. So far, CTPC has been engaged in all types of business in Chinese language industry, including translation, interpretation and exposition, website and product localization, other multilingual language services as well as various customized language training programs.
