In 1993 Barda was drafted into the Army and served three years. Refusing to put his dreams on hold, he
created a short film while on weekend passes. Told through a series of flashbacks, “Painted Black” is the story of four friends who learn about one another during a game of cards.
In 1997, following his discharge from the Army, Barda moved to the U.S. and settled in the city famous for filmmaking: Los Angeles. Throughout the next six years Barda spent his time toiling through miscellaneous jobs in sales, roofing, and marble.
In 2004 Barda saved enough money to self-finance and direct the short film “Well Done.” It was during this period that Barda met a kindred soul that would change the direction of his life.
In the spring of 2004, Barda met with script-writer Rob Walcott. Their shared love of film and all things Spielbergian laid a solid foundation for working together on a joint project that would take four years in the making. Combining Walcott’s talent for script-writing and Barda’s talent for visual story telling, the pair created the graphic novel “Yonder” that is set for release November 2008.
