I live in King’s Somborne, Hampshire with my husband John and a mangy cat, and have two children, Leonora and Bryn.
I trained as a zoologist at King’s College, London University (1961-64) and specialised in comparative psychology, gaining a PhD at Bristol University (1968). Later, I worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Southampton University, and as Head of Psychology at a sixth-form college in Winchester. More recently, I completed an external London University law degree (2003), mainly in an attempt to grasp the legal aspects generated in crime thrillers.

I've written several scientific papers, contributed to a book on social behaviour in birds and mammals and written articles for a law journal.
Now, I'm fascinated by writing crime trillers with an ecological slant. The first novel, Prime Witness, concerned the amazing capacities of our nearest relatives, the primates,and the legal dilemmas generated by granting them extended rights.The second, Blood Wood, was about the devastating effects of illegal logging, both on indigenous peoples and wildlife. The third, not yet published, is called Devil's Dogs.
I suspect we all underestimate animals’ abilities and overestimate our own. «View Less
I would love to find a bold agent/publisher who would take on a novice writer, who has lots of ideas but little experience of the book world. My two books are self-published. A third is on the way.
