Established in 2009, Choc Lit is an independent publisher, specialising in quality fiction with romantic content, where the writing clearly develops the hero’s point of view.
Not surprisingly, they believe that the enjoyment of a good read is enhanced by the taste of chocolate.
Since launch they have won three awards - the Best Romantic Read 2011 from the Festival of Romance, Fiction Award 2011 and Best Historical Read 2011 from the Big Red Reads. In addition, they have had five novels short-listed for awards.
Romantic fiction - minimum 70,000 words which includes the hero's point of view.
We’re looking for novels that are:
* romantic fiction where the writing includes the hero’s point of view
* 70,000 to 110,000 words long
* in English
* completed – we can’t consider works in progress
* previously unpublished (self published is acceptable)
* not currently accepted by any other publisher or agent.
We’re not looking for erotic fiction, although sex scenes that develop the plot are fine by us!
We strongly advise that you have your novel assessed before you send it to us, so that you have a chance to correct any obvious problems with your story or style. There are many people offering manuscript assessment services, including the Romantic Novelists’ Association which has a New Writers’ Scheme.
Once your novel is ready to be submitted, please send us a synopsis in an email to submissions@choc-lit... View More »

Once your novel is ready to be submitted, please send us a synopsis in an email to submissions@choc-lit.co.uk. Do not send as an attachment. Please remember that a synopsis provides the whole story of your novel in a nutshell – the main characters, their motivations and a summary of the plot, including the ending.
If we feel your synopsis has met our Choc Lit hero tastes we will request, via email, that you complete the online Choc Lit Submission Form and submit this together with your novel in MS Word or RTF (text file). Please present these as professionally as possible – there are lots of pointers available on websites such as the Romantic Novelists’ Association. We will email you promptly to say we’ve received your submission and let you know our timescale for responding along with the next steps. We will either then accept or decline to publish your novel, subject to our agreed contract terms. «View Less
