LUCKY SHOT

LUCKY SHOT

a novel of sex, death and photography

By Sarah Leamy

Lucky Shot is a novel about sex, death and photography.
The last novel i published brought up the issues of gender and how we want to know the gender of the people we talk to. Lucky Shot addresses the issue through another route, in relation to sexual connections and the choices we make, for Lucky it is the difference between the good girl/ bad girl. Lucky, the protagonist, has had a rough year with much loss and anger and the story follows Lucky running away from home and family, to recreate a life, find a sense of meaning of family and friendship, and to learn forgiveness. Basic human struggles that many of us face at one time or another. Lucky has to face the idea of euthanasia and palliative care. The need to create and how to share that need and the products of that creativity is the linking theme.
My first published novel, When No One's Looking raised a lot of questions, with readers calling or emailing me to talk about gender. This next book will provoke more discussions - I hope.
