The book is an exploration of sexual submission from the inside. It is the fictional diary of a some-what neurotic, sexually repressed woman, Marilyn. She lives alone in an apartment in a house, but the house has been recently purchased by a young couple who move into the other half of the house. Over 7 1/2 months, her new landlady slowly manipulates Marilyn into complete sexual slavery. What Marilyn only figures out 3 or 4 months along is that the landlady, having a key to her apartment, has been reading this journal and so has inside information into Marilyn's desires, concerns, and inner thoughts.
Marilyn is one of those subs that gets off on the shame of submission. However, she is very conflicted about this and torments herself in a battle of ego vs. libido. To me, this is really the core of the book, exploring the love/hate dynamic of a humiliation sub's psyche. She wants it, but she hates it, and hates that she wants it, but she gets totally turned on that she does these things even though she hates them, and then feels guilty, but not guilty enough to stop. Or does the guilt only make it better?
Confused? Welcome to the inner workings of a sub's paradoxical psyche.
By mid-summer Marilyn has basically accepted and embraced her new role as her landlady's slave and allows herself to be prostituted to a number of men.
I have, to the best of my ability, written it in such a way that it is believable. I have been deliberately loose with the grammar and spelling cause she does not expect anyone to be reading it but her - not "because", not " 'cause ", just "cause". Cause it is stream of consciousness and she writes the way she talks. Her sexual descriptions are initially minimal and repressed - like her- but eventually open up as she does. However, they are never gratuitous; she is not writing porn, she is writing her diary.
