THE FLYBOY & HIS JAZZGIRLS

THE FLYBOY & HIS JAZZGIRLS

A Tale of WWII & Beyond: Tragedy, Revenge, Love and Redemption

By Allen K. Kinchen and Alan B. Berkowitz

This suspenseful page-turner, "The Flyboy & His Jazzgirls" paints a backdrop of WWII and how the British and Americans faced those years. The authors have managed to create a 'you-are-the-fly-on-the-wall' realism for you, the reader, to view the main characters’ plights, thoughts, loves, and actions. It tickets you on a journey with them, as they are able to survive in a new, unfamiliar country, and remain faithful to a religion lost to them in the ravages of war and Anti-Semitism.
You will observe teen-aged Jewish sweethearts, Marc and Lisa, neighbors from the small farm town of Neuwied in 1937 Germany as they reluctantly leave their families for America due to Hitler’s persecution of the Jews. You’ll follow along with them on their chosen paths, Marc to New York and a steadfast determination for revenge against the Nazis by becoming an ace fighter pilot for the RAF and the US Air Corps. You will be in the cockpit with him from his training to numerous dogfights, downed plane sequences, and narrow escapes. You will also follow his love life during the war years and his choices of love vs. combat and commitment.
You will be transported back with Lisa and her siblings, to their lives in New Orleans, the Jazz Capital of the World starting in 1939, as Jazz entertainers filled with promising futures, a stint with the USO, and the romances they encounter in this post Great Depression era. You will be able to experience their Jewish identity and tradition in the early 1940’s, as they learn about real freedom and religious freedom for Jews in America. In addition, you will continue to be a part of how our central characters' lives intertwine throughout the years and culminate in their roles in the fight for Israel's War of Independence in 1948.
This page turner will leave you anticipating its sequel and its adaptation as a motion picture.
Audience: Core audience are adults, followers of war novels containing battle scenes, dogfights, war-time romances, Jewish refugees in America during the time frame 1937-1948, New York, New Orleans, Western Front of WWII and establishment of the State of Israel. It has definite potential for action motion picture.
