This story is set between 1890-1912 & is based upon the lives of two of the most famous characters of that time: Nikola Tesla, the infamous inventor & the even more famous author Mark Twain. In this book Twain goes by his real name Samuel Clemens. In reality these two people knew each other & were friends, the novel expands on that relationship. Tesla was a scientist & inventor the role model for the mad scientist stereotype in future literature. Sam was his willing subject to test out many of his ideas. Nikola & Sam collaborate on various exploits that include Nikola's attempts at developing wireless messages, electrical energy from lightening storms, creating flying machines & a new weapon that was to stop all wars. This book captures them as celebrities of the time, as they gambled their money on various inventions & enterprises that often did not go favourably. The book also covers some of Tesla's more successful ventures; he was commissioned to create the hydro electric system at Niagara Falls as well as being a main contender against Thomas Edison in the electrical take-over of the USA, leading to them both putting on spectacular displays & shows to the public of their electrical systems. The books follows Nikola s attempts to contact aliens from outer space, the development of his robots as well as his attempt to fly his prototype aeroplane, plus his dalliances with ball lightning & his machine that can split the earth into two. They were both very interesting & influential people of their time & their legacies live on into the modern day.
