In ancient times, Greco-Roman mythology tells us, a dynasty of immortal gods and goddesses ruled the world. Head of this dynasty, residing on Mount Olympus, was Zeus and his wife Hera. Among Zeus’ many children were three daughters, Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia. These young goddesses, known as the Three Graces, symbolized goodness and the power of kindness and civility over brutishness and force. The Glamour Geese are the reincarnation of the Three Graces, brought to Earth in a new time and form by Zeus to do good and to right wrong. In this new age, stewardship of the Earth has passed from human beings to animals. It is an imperfect world, however, in which injustice, greed, and lack of freedom oppress the weak.
As they have since the beginning, the immortals intervene to help the inhabitants of Earth. The Legend of the Capitoline Geese tells of a time when the ancient city of Rome was under siege and Rome’s inhabitants were starving. Hungry though they were, the defenders of the city dared not kill the geese who lived in Hera’s Temple for they were sacred to the goddess. One night a Roman soldier was awakened by a great commotion made by the geese. He soon realized that foreign troops were scaling the walls of the city, poised for a surprise attack. Armed with this warning the Romans defeated the attackers and saved the city. The Geese have returned to save the day once again...and Lucretia Quille is the only one who can tell the story...
